Day Walk – Hastings to Rye
Sunday 2nd August 2026

Please note date change to SUNDAY 2nd AUGUST

Meet at 10.30 at Rye Station to catch the 10.49 train to Hastings - this train is only once an hour.

We will then walk from Hastings railway station past Hastings Castle to join the Saxon Shore Way along the coast. As we get to Pett Level we will pick up the path along the Canal, which is where we can stop for lunch. There is a bus which runs from Pett Level to Hastings/Rye if anyone wanted to join/leave the walk here at the halfway point. After lunch we will continue on towards and through Winchelsea, on past Camber Castle and to Rye where the walk ends.

At Rye there are several pubs where we could have a drink after the walk.

Please remember to bring a packed lunch.

The walk is 13.3 miles station to station and has 1465ft of ascent. The majority of the ascent/descent is in the first half of the walk.

Here is a link to the route on OS maps: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/32892928/hastings-to-rye

Please note that from Worthing the drive is an hour and a half so ideally we will minimise the number of cars going through arranging car shares and also sharing the petrol costs.

Please let the organiser know if you can offer a lift or need one to attend.
