Day Walk – Nuthurst Circular
Saturday 2nd May 2026

Start time 10am.

Approx 10 miles, 666 feet of ascent

We will park on the west side of Nuthurst Street by St Andrews Church.

The walk is mainly on tracks and paths through rural countryside taking in Monk’s Gate, circumnavigating the remains of Sedgwick Castle, (1258AD) and Maplehurst. We finish frightfully close to a public house, (The Black Horse) where we can relax if wished.

When we recconoitred the walk two weeks ago it was only slightly muddy in places so I would anticipate no need for poles or gaiters unless there is significant rainfall between now and the day.

It would be sensible to share transport as the skeleton bus service through the village would not be appropriate. Please do let me know if you will be joining me and if I can arrange transport for you. I look forward to seeing you on the day, please bring water and a packed lunch.
