Foreign Trip – Albania – August / September 2023

Having left securing enough accommodation for walking another section of the Brittany Coastal path (GR34), too late, Jacqui suggested Albania.  This was followed up and a self-guided trip with Walks Worldwide organised for five members.  This trip ticked lots of boxes – a country few of the club had visited, transport of main luggage between overnight stops, both circular and linear walks and some time in both Shkodra and Tirana.

Yorkshire Dales, base camp and trek – July 2023

We arrived at Gauber bunkhouse, just up from Ribblehead in the Dales, to find a most luxurious set-up, with a lovely kitchen, very comfy bedrooms and a lounge with log burner and stunning views! Our first walk was up Ingleborough from the bunkhouse, an unusual approach but really lovely, with the final rocky staircase proving an interesting climb.

Day Walk - Saturday 3 June 2023 – Chichester to Bracklesham Bay

To work up an appetite for the barbecue to be held at William and Philippa’s house in Bracklesham Bay, a linear walk was organised following broadly, the New Lipchis Way, from Chichester to West Wittering (about 12 miles) with an optional 3-mile extension to Bracklesham Bay or a lift.

Scotland – May 2023

This was my first full trip to Scotland with the club, and what an experience it was! A long drive up, shared with my fellow passengers, meant we arrived in good time for a meal at the local hostelry. 7 (or was it 8?) full days of walking followed (the 6th day nearly killed me as I’d left my poles behind) but what fantastic walking. I also managed a sneaky wild swim …
