40th Anniversary Celebration Dinner and AGM 2026 – The Highdown HotelSave the date - Saturday 21st November 2026Highdown Hillwalking and Mountaineering Club was founded 40 years ago!To celebrate this and to kickstart a year of celebrations we have booked the Highdown Hotel just outside Worthing for our annual dinner. The plan is to have a half-day walk (maybe a “three-quarter” day ...) in the locality followed by the 40th AGM at the hotel with celebratory cake in the late afternoon. This will lead into a magnificent photo montage with prosecco, a short break for drinks at the bar, and then our Anniversary Dinner. For those club members who are not based in or around Worthing there will be the opportunity to rest, change and freshen up after the walk with various Worthing club members; we will also be pleased to offer accommodation for those travelling from further afield. There is also accommodation available at the Highdown itself. Further details will be posted in the Autumn; for now be sure to “Save the Date”. A word re Photos To create the montage we will be collecting photos from the various trips and walks throughout the year as usual – please see the Dropbox links on the website pages for each trip /walk – and we have got digital photos in our archive from the last 10 years or so. However it would be really good to be able to include a few photos from trips in the more distant past when we were oh so much younger. If you do have some photos that you could upload, then click here for a link to our special Dropbox just for these photos. Could we ask please that you label the photo file with the location, year, and the names of the members included in the picture, as well as your own name? If you have slides or prints that you would like to include then let Malcolm ( |
Planning Meeting – Alisonʼs HouseMonday 27th July 2026Time for the Annual Club Planning Meeting! 24 Rosebery Avenue, Goring-By-Sea, BN12 4U The meeting will start at 7pm, with refreshments from 6:30pm. This is really important evening for the Club, as not only do we get to plan all the fabulous things we are going to do next year, but we also get to enjoy some cracking cheese and wine with fresh French bread — come and pitch your ideas for places you’d like to visit with the Club and places that you would like to walk. Maybe offer to help with some elements of the organisation of an of a trip? Whether you’ve been on lots of club trips or if this is only your first year, you’ll be made very welcome. Please let me know if you’re hoping to come, so I can organise enough seating and try and buy enough cheese (and wine). We had a fantastic turn out last year and had a very pleasant evening. Even if you’re unable to make it, all contributions, suggestions or offers to assist on a trip will be appreciated. See you then. |
