Day Walk – Chichester CanalSunday 14th December 2025Rescheduled from November Meet at 10 for a 10.15 start outside the Chichester Canal Centre Café. We will follow the canal to Chichester Marina then will have two options: The first is to do a linear walk carrying on to West Itchenor then West Wittering - from there we can catch a bus which takes just under 20 minutes back to Chichester. There are two buses an hour but can always find a pub if there is a wait. Bus's are capped at £3 for a single or you could use a bus pass if you have one. The walk is just over 9 miles and flat. The second is to make it a circular walk round Salterns Copse, up to dell quay, alongside Fishbourne channel then take a path parallel to the river Lavant finishing with a walk through Chichester back to our start point. This is showing as just under 8 miles and is again flat. I am just not sure with this route how muddy it might be as have not walked the return before. Please remember your packed lunch - though the café at the marina is very nice if you want to grab coffee/cake. The start of the walk is accessible by public transport with Chichester train station very close by. It may also be possible to do car shares - please let the organiser know if you are willing to offer or if you would like to have a lift. |
