Day Walk – Angmering Park Estate

Angmering Park Estate, to Splash Farm, then on to Wepham Down and the Norfolk Clump

I was on the mountain bike with my cycling club a couple of weeks ago, out on the South Downs, and we fetched up for our coffee stop at a hidden gem just on the edge of the village of Burpham called Splash Farm. So I decided that the next walk that I led with the walking club would have to come here, to experience the hot chocolate made with their own milk (they do tea and coffee too), their lovely homemade cakes and their awesome giant milk vending machine! All in a very rustic setting.

The walk is just under 10 miles long and should take 5 to 6 hours, departing from the Dover Lane car-park. I’d like us to aim to set off at 9.30am, so we can get to Splash Farm for coffee. We’ll then head up onto Wepham Down stopping somewhere near the delightfully named Norfolk Clump for a picnic lunch, before taking in Windy Ridge on our return to the Dover Lane car-park.

There is no public transport close to the walk start, but transport is available by prior arrangement from Durrington-on-Sea train station (courtesy of our Volvo)

The walk is mostly on well-maintained and well-drained tracks and paths, but please be warned that it can get a bit muddy in one or two places after heavy rain. There is 250 m of elevation, with a few steep up-hill pulls.
